Our Lady’s Secondary School, Belmullet (Mayo) 5-10
St. Joseph’s High School, Crossmaglen (Armagh) 2-4
Our Lady’s Secondary School made light work of St. Joseph’s High School in the Senior D replay in Ballyshannon, the Belmullet school running out 15-point winners in a high-scoring encounter.
OLSS were well in control at the break leading 3-5 to 1-2 and though St. Joseph’s doubled their tally in the second half, Our Lady’s had more than enough in hand to lift the Br. Edmund Ignatius Rice Cup at the second attempt.

REPORT:On Sunday 22nd of September a student from our Leaving Cert class of 2014,Tommy Conroy, played the game of a life-time by winning the Mayo Minors All Ireland Final 2013. On Friday 27th of September Tommy made his highly anticipated home-coming. There was a school celebration held in the hall for this remarkable achievement. Fr.Kevin, Sr.Mary Lou, Sr.Caniece, Sr.Breda and Fr.Killeen were all in attendance.  Allso previous winners of The Tom Markham Cup, Tony Munnelly and Martin Coyle who played on the 85’ team  were also in attendance. Tommy’s parents Geraldine and Mickey made a special appearance at Tommy’s home-coming celebration. Both past pupils and retired faculty made the trip to the school to see Tommy as a prize giving ceremony was held. Both Tommy and his selector Eoin Sweeney were in attendance and both gave speeches along with Mr.Holmes, Ms.Moran, Sr.Mary Lou, Sr.Caniece, Sr.Breda, Fr.Kevin, Fr.Killian , Tony Munnelly, Martin Coyle and Micheal Gallagher who also Mc’d the ceremony all gave speeches also. 1985 was the last time the Tom Markham Cup was brought back to the school, that was until Tommy went for gold and buried the winning goal in the back of the net in Croke Park. Fr.Kevin and Mr.Holmes presented a commemorative plaque provided by the school to show their pride over Tommy and his achievement. The choir sang at the celebration. Jason McDonell and Tony Sweeney also performed. Our school would like to wish congratulate Tommy on his wonderful achievement and wish him the best of luck in the future with his football. REPORT: Bulgaria was the place and Boxing was the name of the game . Ty student Ciara Ginty of Geesala boxing club has won gold at The Female Youth World Championship. The first female youth champion from Ireland. Boxing coach Pat McDonagh has said this is only the beginning for the young boxer. Teachers and Students alike are very proud of the young boxer. The team landed back home to Dublin late that sunday night. At 6:30pm the following day there was a parade for the champion boxer and her bronze medal winning team-mate Jaqui Lynch at Corrick, and her home-coming was held in the town at half seven that night. The school are very proud of Ciara and her amazing achievement and we wish her the best of luck in the future with her boxing career in the not to distant future. By Ciara Murphy
